Nthache Community Policing applauded

malawi-policeSenior Deputy Commissioner of Police for the South, Agnes Gondwe, has hailed the partnership existing between community policing members and the Malawi Police Service (MPS).

Gondwe made the remarks at Thawale Community Day Secondary School in Mwanza when she attended Nthache Community Policing Open Day initiatives recently.

She saluted Nthache Community Policing Forum for twice scooping the best award in community policing.

“We have learnt that Nthache Community Policing is led by the chief himself which is commendable. It is my appeal to all chiefs to borrow a leaf from Chief Nthache,” said Gondwe.

Nthache said despite meeting some challenges, community policing members in his area will continue to work hard to assist the police root out crime.

“We have various initiatives in our community policing that are helping us curb crime in our area. But we lack materials such as reflectors. We also need a reliable vehicle at the district office which should be used for community policing purposes,” said Nthache.

District community policing coordinator Cagetan Singano said they introduced police units at Kunenekude and Thambani where some minor cases are being reported.
