Police arrest suspect in murder of Blantyre doctor Atughanile Chomo

Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with the murder of medical doctor Atughanile Chomo, who was found dead at her home in Blantyre on Tuesday.

National Police deputy spokesperson Alfred Chimthere identified the suspect as Macmillan Mvevula. He said detectives from the Blantyre Criminal Investigations Department arrested him during an intelligence-led operation.

Police also recovered a Redmi mobile phone believed to belong to Dr Chomo, who was 28.

According to Chimthere, the suspect is from Mtika Village in the area of Traditional Authority Ngolongoliwa in Thyolo District.

Police say investigations into the murder are continuing.
