Rotary Club of Lingadzi to tackle Dickson Health Centre challenges

Rotary Club of Lingadzi has pledged to tackle problems it discovered during its visit to Dickson Health Centre at Mitundu in Lilongwe on Saturday.

The club visited the facility to donate delivery equipment to expectant mothers at the facility’s maternity wing, but according to the club’s charter president Carol Makoko, a tour of the facility established more challenges.

“The visit led us to see more challenges such as lack of clean and working toilets, a limited number of beds in the wards, a small labour theatre and an outdated kitchen, among others,” she said.

She said the club has since decided to make the facility its project to tackle the challenges until things get better.

Dickson Health Centre in-charge Winford Msapa said well-wishers were welcome to assist through the district health office (DHO).

“We cannot send back assistance. Let whoever wants to help come and do so but they have to go through the DHO because that is where we report to,” he said. Makoko said the club, which is expected to be registered in January 2020, has 20 paid up members and on Saturday donated basins, soap and other items.
