Salima DC calls for equal distribution of resources
Salima district commissioner James Mwenda has urged civil society organisations (CSOs) implementing projects in the district to register with the council to ensure equal distribution of resources and development activities.
He said this on Friday during the district councils’ development meeting with CSOs where they discussed best ways to facilitate and implement projects in the district.
Said Mwenda: “This meeting is a platform where civil society organisations are interacting with traditional leaders, councillors and officials from the council to reflect on what the civil society organisations are doing in our district.
“It is also a platform to discuss challenges that we are facing when implementing various programmes and to find solutions.”
He advised the CSOs to register with the council before April 1, saying failure to do so will lead to sanctions.
Salima Civil Society Organisations Network vice-chairperson Joseph Kandiyesa said the meeting will help to track development activities in the district.
He urged CSOs to present their projects at the council, saying it is an opportunity to showcase what they do.
Senior Chief Kalonga said that such gatherings will benefit the district because every year they will be able to scrutinise project resource mobilisation and monitor their implementation.
A resident at Salima Boma, Ndiuzani Gadama, said it was important to monitor projects CSOs are implementing to promote accountability for donor funds
