Serbian coach Vladislav Heric has said he is interested in the Silver Strikers head coach post following his memorable experience working with Malawian players while in South Africa.

The 56-year-old tactician is among scores of coaches that have submitted their applications for the job to replace fired Zambian Dan Kabwe.

Heric: It’s time to leave South Africa

Heric confirmed his interest in the job in an interview on Monday.

The coach, who holds a Uefa A coaching licence, said he was impressed with some Malawian players he coached while in South Africa.

He said: “I have coached some Malawian players in South Africa and I was impressed with their skills and discipline.”

Heric has vast experience in African football, having coached in South Africa for decades.

The Serbian, who holds a bachelor’s degree in physical science (physical condition) from University of Novi Sad in Serbia, had his first stint with an African club at Maritzburg United in South Africa in June 2007.

The following year, he moved to Bay United where he stayed for two seasons and coached former Malawi international striker Jimmy Zakazaka.

In 2010, he had a brief spell with Warriors after parting ways with Bay United.

His next stop was at Black Leopards in October 2011 where he also coached another Flames international Robert Ng’ambi.

Heric then moved to Polokwane City in July 2012 where he worked with Flames legend Esau Kanyenda.

From Polokwane City, he moved to FC Cape Town in 2013 where he reunited with Zakazaka.

The following year he was hired by Chippa United.

But he did not stay long and the same year, Heric moved to Royal Zulu.

Just like at his previous jobs, he did not stay long at Royal Zulu as he was engaged as coach for Royal Eagles in 2015.

His next stop was at Ajax Cape Town where he was hired as assistant manager and he was also in charge of the youth team.

In 2017 he parted ways with Ajax Cape Town to join All Stars and by December 2017 he was back at   Royal Eagles, but this time as assistant manager.

Heric left Royal Eagles again and returned to Chippa in 2018.

A season later, he was at Tshakhuma where he briefly coached another Flames player midfielder Jospeh Kamwendo before leaving again to join Cape Town Spurs in October 2020.

He returned to Chippa United for the third time in April 2021, this time as technical adviser.

After coaching over 15 South African clubs, Heric said he now wants to try new challenges.

He said: “It’s time to leave South Africa.”

Silver chief executive officer Thoko Chimbali confirmed the Serbian’s interest in the job.

He said: “We are getting applications from all over the world.”

The applications will close on October 28, according Chimbali.

Silver Reserve coach Leo Mpulula is currently caretaker coach alongside assistant coach Edson Kadenge Mwafulirwa.
