Silver Strikers Football Club executive committee has said it is consulting the team’s supporters before coming up with a concrete decision on the way forward in the wake of the team’s recent sterile performance.

The Bankers executive committee met on Monday, but general secretary Mike Tembo kept a tight lid on the outcome of the meeting.

“First of all, we want to consult our supporters before we come up with a decision to avoid backlash.

“We do not want a situation whereby they should complain that they were not consulted. So, we’ll ask for their views and probably in a day or two, we should determine the way forward,” said Tembo.

He also said as at now, the coaching panel is still intact.

“Should there be any developments, we’ll definitely announce,” he said.

However, the club’s chairperson McDonald Mafuta-Mwale at the weekend hinted that heads would roll as it was now evident that the Super League champions have terribly lost their way.

“The situation is unbearable, things are getting out of hand and it is time to make a move.

“Tough decisions will have to be made because we cannot go on setting targets,” said Mafuta-Mwale.

He also said while the coaching panel should take the blame for the team’s poor showing, the players’ commitment is also questionable.

Mafuta Mwale said: “The team is playing well, but we are failing to score. Apart from the midweek game against Epac, Saturday’s game was the seventh which we haven’t scored.

“So, players should also share the blame because there are some who are not giving out their best and there is no reason to keep useless players.

“There must be something that is going through their minds. So, we’ll review the situation.”
