On-loan goalkeeper Simplex Nthala reportedly put up a man-of-the-match display in Ferroviaro de Nampula’s 2-0 beating of Vilankulo at Estadio 25 de Junho on Saturday in Mozambique.

The win took Ferroviaro tally to 16 points on position 11 of the 14-member Mocambola League which Joseph Kamwendo’s Liga Muculmana tops on 30 points from 14 games.

Nthala, who is not in the Flames squad to face Rwanda in a friendly tomorrow, could not be reached for a comment.

But he is reportedly back at Ferroviaro, having earlier been recalled by his employers Muculmana.

In other games involving Malawians, Fred Chindipha and Dangalira Mnelemba’s HCB Songo, who came to Malawi a few weeks ago for pre-season games, on Sunday beat Matchedje 2-0.

HCB are third on 26 points.

In South Africa, there was no place for Atusaye Nyondo in SuperSport United starting line-up on Sunday when they lost 4-3 on post-match penalties to Orlando Pirates in MTN Cup quarter-final following a 2-2 draw in regulation time.

Flames right-back Limbikani Mzava played the entire game as his Bloemfontein Celtic struggling start to the season continued with a 3-0 defeat by 10-man Bidvest Wits University who once again ignored Flames striker Robin Ngalande. Wits are in the semi-final alongside Kaizer Chiefs.

Ngalande has since arrived in Rwanda.

Robert Ng’ambi also commanded Platinum Stars’ midfield as they beat Free State Stars 3-0 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium to qualify for the semi-final.
