Sunbird Search for a Star storms LL

Sunbird Search for a Star will today introduce 24 contesters in the competition to Lilongwe fans with a parade in the city and other surrounding townships.

Speaking in an interview yesterday, Sunbird Tourism Limited public relations officer Akossa Mphepo said they have organised two events to be held today and tomorrow to interact with followers of the competition in the city.

“We are in Lilongwe and our main event today will be to introduce the contesters to people in the city through a parade and reach out event.

“We will travel around with the contesters and later on visit Place of Hope orphanage where we will interact with the orphans at the home,” said Mphepo.

She said another moment of tears and joy in the Sunbird Search for a Star will return tomorrow at the Sunbird Capital Marquee where eight contesters will be evicted from the competition. She added that the first eviction will be spiced up with a performance by Piksy.

The 24  are Sigele Akimu, Andrian Kwelepeta, Chisomo Chichi Nteleka, Sithembile Banda, Rustika Kapito, Tiyamike Mwanyama, Linda Chikoti, Mickliner Monyo, Elijah Gausi, Chiyanjano Maimba, Raroon Osman, Gift Vole, Obedi Kananji, Emily Kayira, Lekani Folotiya, Chinsisi Banda, Stanley Matewere, Kondwani Luwe, Grace Million, Dorothy Chidothi and Lizzie Chisoma.

Sunbird Search for Star kicked off on October 5 at Sunbird Mount Soche in Blantyre. According to Mphepo, the grand finale will be held in Lilongwe on December 14 and the best three singers will walk away with cash prizes. The first prize is K500 000 (US$1 351), runner up will pocket K300 000 (US$810) and K200 000 (US$540) will go to the third position.
