The soldiers made use of home-ground advantage to overtake the cops on goal difference.

On Saturday, Support Battalion beat Hard Knockers 1-0 through an Edward Chitsulo [not the journalist] first-half goal.

They completed their mission with a 4-0 victory over Dowa Medicals on Sunday to move to the top.

Madalisto Banda scored a brace. Sam Banda [not the journalist] and Dalitso Chilindiza were also on target for the soldiers.

Kasungu Police, who are tied on 14 points with the soldiers but have a two-goal deficit, suffered a 5-0 humiliating defeat at the hands of third-placed Dwangwa United on Saturday.

Kingsley Kapalamula scored a hat-trick while Kondwani Bakali claimed a brace.

According to the table, four teams Dwangwa United, Airborne Rangers, Nambuma United and Duli Rangers are on positions three to six in respective order.

Also playing last weekend, Airborne Rangers collected four points from a possible six.

They beat Chris Allan 2-1 on Saturday and settled for a goalless draw against Airborne Rangers the following day.
