Symon Vuwa-Kaunda

Member of Parliament for Nkhata Bay Central, I would not get excited to the point of declaring that President Joyce Banda is the president of all political parties by virtue of being the country’s President.

If I were Hon. Vuwa-Kaunda, I would realise that my statement was misleading as President JB has her own party called People’s Party (PP), which she leads.

How I wish I were Ada Vuwa, because I would appreciate that my statement has the potential for sending wrong signals, especially in my party as it would be viewed as buying favours from ‘Ama’ and her government.

Yes, while I might argue that I made the statement in my capacity as MP for the area, I would appreciate that I slightly went out of my way by turning into the President’s praise singer.

I would further realise that parties have different ideologies and that is why Amayi is president of PP, not all political parties.

All I am saying is that if I were Ada Vuwa, I would appreciate that it is such comments that promote dictatorship.

If I were the Nkhata Bay Central parliamentarian, I would also appreciate that it was not the right forum to utter such comments.

That is if only I were Ada Vuwa-Kaunda. Unfortunately, I am not and will never be him!
