Tanzanian Premier League club Mbeya City FC have loaned out their Malawian new-signing midfielder Chimwemwe Idana to Silver Strikers, barely days after signing him on a year-and-a-half deal.

Speaking on behalf of the club’s chief executive officer (CEO) and spokesperson Emmanuel Kimbe, an official of the Mbeya-based outfit said the player has been loaned out for six months because their foreign quota is currently full.

He said: “Only our CEO can provide more details, but we have indeed loaned him to [Silver] Strikers. You can check with them.”

On her part, Silver acting CEO Faith Mzungu-Vilakati said: “I am not in a position to confirm or deny the development.”

On the other hand, the player’s manager Dave Matemba said: “You can go by the information you have gathered. That’s all I can say.”

Mbeya signed the former Nyasa Big Bullets midfield maestro on Friday as a free agent following the expiry of his contract with the People’s Team.

The Flames midfielder announced he had sealed the deal with the Tanzanian club though his Facebook page.

“Done deal. Thanks for your support,” wrote the 2021 TNM Super League Player of the Season.

Iadana failed to reach an agreement with Bullets on the prospects of contract extension, leading to the two parties parting ways.

Ironically, the player recently underwent successful trials at South African DStv Premiership side Sekhukhune United, but the club reportedly shelved his signing to July because its foreign quota was full.
