Total Malawi on Tuesday celebrated 50 years of its existence in the country during a party that was held at Protea Ryalls Hotel in Blantyre.

During the party which was attended by a cross-section of people, including the Minister of Energy Ibrahim Matola, the company’s customers and staff, Total Malawi managing director Michel Malatino thanked the partners for their support during the 50 years.

“We thank all partners ,including the Ministry of Energy and the Reserve Bank of Malawi [RBM] for ensuring that foreign exchange is available for buying fuel. Our existence in this country for the past 50 years has been a great achievement and we are looking forward to this economy to give us more,” said Malatino.

Looking ahead, he added that Malawians should expect better services and the company will offer customers with a good experience.

Malatino assured customers that they will introduce services that match those in other countries such as South Africa regardless of Malawi’s income levels.

Matola, who was guest of honour ,thanked Total Malawi for serving the nation for so long.

“Total Malawi has served the country through their contribution by creating employment and social corporate responsibility,” he said.

Matola added that the cooperation between Petroleum Importers Limited (PIL) in which Total Malawi is a member and the Malawi Government is cordial.
