Uganda, Ghana join Malawi festive season

Two foreign artists, Anecho Edward aka Blazy of Uganda and Ghanaian Afro-pop star Derrick Abbey Thompson popularly known as Jaytomson, have confirmed their coming into the country for a series of music performances.
The artists’ Malawi trip has been organised by Afrigiants Entertainment, an African grouping of artists.
Lilongwe-based DJ Scarper, who is founder and president of the grouping, is facilitating the trip, which is also the first for the group.
He said the artists will arrive in Lilongwe on December 23 and travel to Blantyre for a performance at the Dorvic Hotel on Christmas Eve.
Joined by local artists such as Blakjak and Nyasa Queens, the artists will also participate at the Blantyre Urban Star Festival at the same venue on Christmas Day.
The capital city will host the artists at Hill 53 where they will grace the launch of DJ Scarper’s mixtape on December 28. They will also perform at the after party at Europa Wakawaka in the evening and their last show will be at Portuguese Club on December 31.
Confirming the trip, Jaytomson said he is geared for the trip.
“It is a great honour to be recognised to perform in Malawi with a fellow international artist Blazy. I have prepared for the shows and I am promising Malawians only fireworks. I live by international standards and I have prepared a performance worth paying for,” he said in a phone interview yesterday.
Jaytomson, whose music has been on the international market for years, said Kobogurls, Johnbuill, Touch My Body and the latest hit Shake Your Hudada, will not miss the list of songs to be performed during the tour.
The 29-year-old is yet to get an award, but apart from his country, his songs have shone on UK’s One Afro Radio and Insango Radio of Rwanda. His success has earned him a reputation on the continent and he is currently a brand ambassador of Kabbah Cloth Group Company of South Africa and Ghana.
