Wanderers, Mukuru part ways
Mighty Wanderers Football Club and Mukuru Money Transfer Limited on Thursday announced they would not renew their partnership which has expired.
The development marks the end of a three-year agreement in which Mukuru has been pumping K175 million annually into the Nomads since 2022.

In return, the international money transfer company has been enjoying the naming rights of the club.
But a joint statement signed by Wanderers’ board secretary Chancy Gondwe and Mukuru chief marketing officer Brandon Mncube explained said they have decided not to renew their sponsorship agreement.
“The parties hereby announce that they have mutually agreed not to renew the sponsorship agreement between Mighty Wanderers Football Club and Mukuru,” reads part of the statement.
“Wanderers Football Club expresses gratitude for the fruitful partnership and will always cherish the positive experiences shared during this collaboration.”
Wanderers have since dropped ‘Mukuru’ from their official name and reverted to ‘Mighty Wanderers Football Club’.
They are also expected to abandon their Mukuru-branded shirts which were already unveiled recently for the 2025 season.
Football analyst Parry Chinyama said when parties agree mutually to terminate an agreement, it sounds good in terms of making business sense.
He said: “Since we have not heard any negative sentiments from the two parties, we all go by what they have agreed.
“However, this is a setback to Wanderers because part of their sponsorship fund is now lost.”
