Wemas gives cashback to 9 Boss Fisheries employees

Wella Medical Aid Society (Wemas) on Wednesday gave back cash amounting to K190 500 to nine Boss Fisheries employees who have not incurred 25 percent of medical bills over the last 12 months.

Speaking during the official presentation of the cheque in Blantyre on Wednesday, Wemas chief executive officer Macdonald Wella said they are the only medical scheme providing cashback to their customers.

He said: “We are striving to be unique from the rest of health insurance companies in Malawi by rewarding clients who have lived healthy lives over the past year.

“To qualify for the benefit, one has to be a member and run the scheme for one year. If they have used less than 25 percent of the contribution, they are eligible for a cashback of 25 percent.”

Wella said Wemas is one of few medical schemes in Malawi which does not ask customers to pay shortfalls and use biometric systems.

Boss Fisheries accountant Leslie Msamala said the cashback service will encourage more people to join the medical scheme.

“Wella Medical Aid Society is unique because they don’t have an age ceiling and we are urging Malawians join this medical scheme because it is where the value for money counts,” he said.

One of the employees, Anna Machira thanked Wemas for serving the people well.
