World Vision hands over K10bn projects to govt
World Vision Malawi (WVM) has handed over 392 construction projects, valued at over K10 billion implemented during its 2023/24 financial year.
The projects, spread across 19 districts, were constructed to improve key sectors such as early childhood development, water and sanitation, education, food security, and maternal and child health.

Speaking during the handover at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe on Monday, President Lazarus Chakwera commended WVM for its commitment to transforming vulnerable communities in Malawi.
Said the President: “Since 1988, World Vision has played a crucial role in improving the lives of children and communities in this country. Their presence across all districts is a testament to their unwavering dedication to development.”
Chakwera further hailed WVM programmes that positively impact lives of beneficiaries, saying the infrastructures will significantly contribute to the government’s efforts in achieving sustainable development.
“These projects will not only support essential services but also push our national vision of ensuring that no community is left behind,” he added.
On his part, WVM board chairperson Alfred Kaponda said the organisation remains committed to complementing government’s efforts through supporting children’s lives.
“These projects reflect our mission to serve the people of Malawi, we believe that through this we can create a lasting impact in communities,” he said.
The handover includes constructed classrooms, health facilities, boreholes, water, sanitation and hygiene (Wash) systems and irrigation schemes aimed at strengthening resilience and improving livelihoods.
Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture Richard Chimwendo Banda, who was present at the event, acknowledged the organisations contributions over the years.
He appealed to other organisations to imitate the gesture, saying for development to take place there is need for collaborative efforts between government and civil society organisations to ensure lives of citizens are transformed.
