The Clash of Titans between Zambia’s Yo Maps and Malawi’s Tay Grin electrified the Bingu International Convention Centre (Bicc) auditorium in Lilongwe on Saturday night.

True to their word, the organisers swung open the doors at exactly 6pm, accompanied by the lively beats of DJ Nax P, setting the stage for the night.

Initially, the auditorium appeared sparsely populated, but as the minutes ticked by, the audience steadily swelled.

At 8:30pm, the spotlight was on Emmie Deebo, who kicked off the evening with her performance, setting the tone for what was to come. The stage came alive with the next acts, including The Diminish Band, Lulu and the Mathumela Band and Onesimus, who entertained the audience with their dynamic performances.

Despite the host’s repeated pleas for patrons to stay away  from the stage, the energy of the performers kept drawing them back, creating an atmosphere of uncontrolled interest.

Yo Maps kept things alive with his electrifying performance

The momentum peaked when Onesimus went on the stage, entertaining the auditorium with his chart-topping hit Controller, which sent excitement through the audience.

DJ Happy, DJ Spin and DJ Mighty Virus all added flavour to the show.

The moment everyone had been waiting for arrived as Tay Grin made his grand entrance, accompanied by a compelling display of fire-dancers and gule wamkulu masks.

Engaging the audience with his signature tracks like Two by Two and Chipapapa, Tay Grin held the crowd spellbound with his stage presence.

The climax of the evening came when Yo Maps, dressed in bright red attire, joined Tay Grin on stage. Together, they performed their collaboration So Mone and the audience exploded in applause, as the performance brought the Zambia and Malawi edition of Clash of Titans to a vibrant close.

But the night was far from over as Yo Maps took control of proceedings on stage treating patrons to another hour and a half of non-stop entertainment, ensuring that the energy remained sky-high until the final curtain call.

He performed some of his hits like Kondwa, Yabaya, Try Again and Location.

“The show was absolutely amazing. Today history has been made. I wish we get to have more lively shows the rest of the year,” said one patron.

In an interview after the event, Epic Exclusive chief executive officer Yollam Kawanga could not hide his excitement, thanking the thousands of fun seekers for filling up the Bicc auditorium.

“We promised our clients top-notch entertainment in a battle of the greats and I am happy all artists kept time and they delivered,” he said.
