Zambezia Province courts Malawian investors to Mozambique
The Mozambican Government has courted Malawian businespeople to explore opportunities in that country, highlighting its conducive environment for investment.
Zambezia Province Governor Pio Augusto Matos made the call on Saturday in Blantyre during a business meeting with their Malaiwan counterparts.

In an interview, he said Malawi can benefit from using Quelimane Port on the Indian Ocean coast, which is 306 kilometres away from Malawi, easing trade challenges for the landlocked country.
Matos assured Malawian investors of enjoying peaceful business environment in Zambezia Province.
“We came here to invite Malawian enterprises to invest in Zambezia Province,” he said.
On his part, Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry director of business environment Lucky Mfungwe noted that the opportunity can help Malawian businesses to integrate into regional and global trade.
He said: “The opening of Quelimane Port for Malawian imports and exports is a major boost to our economy as it is cost-effective. We will engage our members to take advantage of this opportunity.”
HS Winehouse Beverages board member Rachel Mijiga, whose firm jointly manufacturers Capestars liquor spirit with Ethanol Company Limited, said they are already in discussions with the Mozambican authorities to fully enter the market.
“We aim to start setting up operations in Mozambique by the end of this year,” she said.
