ZIM social soccer team in for friendly
Zimbabwean social football team Professional Networking (Pronet) arrives today for a friendly match against Blantyre-based Sorre William at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre tomorrow morning.
The team’s spokesperson Jeremiah Chinhamo said their visit is part of their tour of Southern African countries as a social interaction escapade and cultural exchange programme.
“We have already been to countries like Botswana, Zambia, South Africa and Tanzania during the past couple of years and this year we have thought it wise to visit Malawi.
“We meet our own travel, food and accommodation expenses,” he said.
Sorre William treasurer Patrick Tsonga said they are delighted at hosting a foreign social team that aims at promoting social co-existence.
“We have already booked the ground for the match which will start at 9.30am and thereafter, we will have a get together at Pa Sitting Room pub in Chitawira Township,” he said.
Tsonga, who also features as a defender for Sorre William, said this is not the first time for them to play a foreign social team.
“We also travelled to Tete, Mozambique in August last year where we played Club Deportivo 25 De Seitembre social team and the match ended in a four-all draw,” he said. n
