The Scorchers need a point in their last Group C match against Zambia’s Copper Queens at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) to qualify for knockout stages.
This follows holders and 10-time champions Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over Zambia on Saturday night in Rabat, Morocco.

Earlier on, the Malawi Women’s National Football Team continued with its remarkable run at the continental showpiece with a 3-1 victory over Egypt.
Malawi Women’s National Football Team coach Lovemore Fazili has vowed to fight for maximum points.
He was quoted by Kosi_Foottalk Facebook page as having said: “We are taking every game at a time and even if we need a point, we will fight for all the points on offer.
“Being a decider, it will be a tough match, but we have a team that is out to prove a point. This is the first time that we have qualified for Wafcon and the girls want to prove that they are capable and they can deliver.”
Following the match day two results, the Scorchers stand proudly at the summit of Group C with six points followed by Nigeria who are tied on three points with third-placed Zambia, but the Super Falcons have an advantage owing to head-to-head superiority over the Copper Queens despite having an inferior goal difference.
This means the fight for qualification will go down to the wire on match day three on Wednesday.
If Nigeria beat Egypt, they will also have six points and in the event that Zambia beat Malawi, a three-way tie on six points will occur among the three teams.
Under the Confederation of African Football regulations, such a tie is decided by an isolated ‘mini-league’ table where ties on points in the group stage are broken using head-to-head results first, followed by overall goal difference, and finally a drawing of lots.
