Bangwe,Nomads clash over player
Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Bangwe All Stars have clashed over Eagles Strikers centreback Chimwemwe Nkhoma who has signed for the two TNM Super Leagues sides within two months.
The Nomads unveiled the 20-year-old defender on Thursday after he signed a three-year contract.
The player also confirmed completing a move to the Nomads, saying it was his dream to play for the Blantyre –based giants.
“I am grateful to Wanderers leadership for giving me an opportunity to be part of such a big team. I have a lot to learn and grow within the club and I hope that together we will achieve more,” he said.
Wanderers signed the player after getting Eagle Strikers’ blessings.
According to the Mzuzu-based outfit, the player was initially released to join Bangwe All Stars on loan, but the club withdrew the offer after they breached the agreement and signed him on a two-year contract without their permission.
A letter dated January 24 from Eagles to Bangwe signed by chairperson Lazarus Gondwe reads: “I am pleased to inform you that executive committee of Eagles Strikers has accepted to offer the above-mentioned player to your club on loan basis as per your request. However, this loan is subject to our agreement.”
According to a contract which we have seen, the player signed a two-year deal with Bangwe All Stars on January 29 with Christopher Nyambose and Stella Jika as witnesses.
But another letter from Eagle Strikers dated February 21 signed by general secretary Chisomo Msesa, indicates that the club withdrew the loan deal.
The letter reads: “Reference to our letter dated January 29 where we offered you the above mentioned player on a season-long loan as you showed interest on him.
“We indicated in the letter that that loan is subject upon agreement by both parties. Since from the time we offered the player up to now, you have not contacted us on the terms, therefore, we would like to inform you that we are withdrawing our player from serving you with immediate effect.”
Football Association of Malawi player transfer matching system and compliance manager Casper Jangale said the association will investigate what transpired for the player to for the two clubs within two months.
Nkhoma has earned three Malawi national football team call ups, including the latest for the forthcoming four-nation tourney involving the Flames, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Zambia to be held this month in Lilongw
