Beauty queens eye international contests

Organisers of local beauty contests have announced that their winners will participate in international competitions to promote the local brands and modeling industry.

In an interview on Monday, Miss Heritage Malawi competition organisers Maddie Mkuwu confirmed that the new Miss Heritage Malawi Mwaiwathu Khupe, 21, will represent Malawi at the Miss Heritage Global pageant in South Africa this September.

“All her needs when travelling to South Africa to attend the pageant with other 52 countries are ready,” she said.

On her part, Khupe said she has always been passionate about modelling  she will do her best to fly the Malawian Flag high.

She was crowned Miss Heritage Malawi 2023 on Saturday July 15. Khupe also said she will strongly advocate for industrialisation which is one of the pillars of the Malawi Vision 2063.

In another development, the yet-to-be crowned Miss Culture Malawi will participate in the Miss Uni World in June next year in Canada.

Lush Africa chief executive officer Lorraine Kjajic who is also Miss Culture Malawi organiser, said everything is set for the new queen to travel to Canada next year.

“It is important for the winner to participate in international contests and elevate the brand,” she said.

Kjajic also said Miss Culture Malawi first princess will participate in Miss Culture International in while the second princess will participate in Miss Africa International.
