Nyasa Big Bullets blossoming striker Patrick Mwaungulu has expressed delight at becoming the second winner of the Hubertus Clausus Player-of-the-Month Award.

After receiving a miniature that comes along with a K100 000 prize at half-time during Bullets’ TNM Super League match against Kamuzu Barracks at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on Saturday, the 19-year-old said it was a big motivation to be named the outstanding player for the month of June.

Mwaungulu, who is playing his first season in the top-flight league after being promoted from second-tier league side Bullets Reserves, was nominated for the award alongside the inaugural winner midfielder Chimwemwe Idana and Nigerian striker Babatunde Adepoju.

“There are so many good players at Bullets that deserved this award. It is a great honour and motivation to be chosen as the winner.  I thank the fans and everybody who voted for me,” he said.

Football lovers Beatrice Masache, Sudi Tambula and Chisomo Chilimani each won Hubertus Clausus-branded golf shirt and tickets to Bullets’ next home match for sending the most votes through text messages at a cost of K50 each.

Hubertus Clausus Malawi Limited finance director Malinda Chinyama said the insurance brokers are excited with the progress of the awards and are committed to continue with the initiative.

“Since we launched these awards, the awareness of our company in the country has grown by at least 65 percent. We are happy that apart from rewarding the players for their hardwork, the awards are giving our company the much-needed visibility,” he said.

Bullets launched the monthly award in partnership with the insurance brokers as a way of motivating the players.
