Six years after its inception, Beach Soccer of Malawi (BSM) has formed a national team with John Kaputa as its interim coach.

Kaputa has since selected 19 players from across the country ahead of a trip to Mozambique for friendly matches.

The provisional squad comprises Ali Nyondo, Venerical Malunga, Yona Mbisa, James Chikoka, John Kumwenda, Happy Kumwenda, Ziggy Chakunkhulira, Asani Miyaka, Mwiza Mkandawire, Jackson Banda, Yohane Malunga, Koloni Kamanga, Alipo Longwe, Idi Njanaa, Smart Kamanga, Kitwell Kiwe, Junior Makinka, James Daniel and Donald Phiri.

“These are the best players we have in the country. With more time and proper training, I have no doubt that they can represent us well on the international stage,” said Kaputa.

Meanwhile, BSM has asked Kaputa to put up structures for the national team in all the country’s regions.

“Soon, he will be conducting interviews for the national coach, assistant coach, team manager and goalkeeper trainer. We are pleased to have a team in place and with Kaputa’s experience, we have no doubt that we are on the right track,” said BSM secretary general David Sado.
