BT United jump to ninth
Blantyre United edged Azam Tigers 2-1 at Kalulu Stadium on Tuesday afternoon to move from position 11 to nine on the K65 million (about $162 500) TNM Super League chart.
Blantyre United’s Aiko Maluwa and Anthony Banda’s goals rendered Yamikani Chester’s solitary strike inadequate for Tigers to play second fiddle to their counterparts. It was United’s fourth win in five second-round games.
The Elia Kananji-coached side has 25 points from 19 games, seven points behind leaders Red Lions. Ironically, United’s performance is improving after losing key players such as Abraham Kamwendo, Maxwell Chirwa, Thoko Stambuli.
On the other hand, Tigers are still searching for their first second-round win. They have since moved from position nine to 10 on 23 points.
Understandably, Tigers coach Leo Mpulula told Radio 2 FM on Wednesday morning that he was so disappointed to comment on the fourth league defeat.
