In a new twist, Nyasa Big Bullets will face Silver Strikers this Saturday at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe in a match organised by Nzika Foundation to raise funds for needy college students.

Initially, Bullets were supposed to face their age-old rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre today, but Nzika Foundation team leader Gift Nankhuni said in an interview on Tuesday that the match has been shelved due to logistical issues.

“Wanderers have other engagements this weekend, but we still plan to have the Blantyre derby at some point in the future,” he said.

Nankhuni said Saturday’s match, dubbed Ufulu friendly match, is part of the 58th Independence Anniversary Celebrations.

He said : “Preparations for the match are at an advanced stage and we have already agreed terms with both teams.”

The Nzika Foundation official standard ticket is pegged at K2 000 while a seat in the comfort of the corporate box is at K10 000 and VIP ticket at K5 000.

Nzika Foundation has also organised a live music show at Bingu International Convention Centre in the capital city this Friday for the same cause. The show will be headlined by Patience Namadingo.

Other artists on the line-up include Eli Njuchi and Driemo. Standard ticket for the show is at K15 000 while VIP is at K20 000.

“We are targeting to raise at least K20 million or more from both events and we will cover all logistics,” said Nankhuni.

He said tickets are being sold through TNM mobile money platform Mpamba.

Silver chief executive officer Thoko Chimbali confirmed their participation while Bullets chief adminitration officer Albert Chigoga said he would revert.

Nzika Foundation is involved in charity work and last month donated materials to Nyamadzere Model Primary School for the construction of two classrooms.

The foundation also organised a two-day football bonanza to raise money to help flood survivors in Nsanje and Chikwawa which raised K42 million.

The event was dubbed Pamtsetse Football bonzanza and it involved the country’s top four clubs, namely Bullets, Wanderers, Silver and Civil Service United.
