State House says FCB Nyasa Bullets were not invited to the State Banquet President Lazarus Chakwera hosted for his Tanzania counterpart Samia Suluhu Hassan and her entourage on Wednesday at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.

In an interview on Thursday, presidential press secretary Anthony Kasunda said Bullets were not part of the programme unlike Young Africans (Yanga) who they played  on Thursday as part of Malawi’s 59th  Independence Anniversary.

“Bullets did not attend the dinner, but Young African Sports Club players and officials did. Young African Sports Club were part of the Tanzania presidential delegation that’s why they attended the dinner,” he said.

The explanation follows a situation where Bullets players and officials were denied entry at Kamuzu Palace gate to the banquet.

Bullets chief administrative officer Albert Chigoga confirmed that they were not allowed to the dinner.

“A list of names we submitted was misplaced so we could not be allowed to enter,” said Chigoga.

Yanga held Bullets to a goalless draw on Thursday at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
