It might be a defining weekend for Silver Strikers and Kamuzu Barracks (KB) in their pursuit of the 2013 TNM Super League honours.

This afternoon, all roads will lead to Civo Stadium where Super League title contenders Kamuzu Barracks (KB) line up against Epac FC.

A loss for KB, who are four points adrift of leaders Mafco, will mean waving goodbye to the league title while a win will push them to second position and still be in contention for the title.

KB team manager Francis Shaba vowed in an interview on Wednesday to win against Epac.

“Our title race will depend on the outcome of the games involving Moyale and Silver. We are remaining with two games and it is a must that we win both games. Epac are a tough team, but we play a Barcelona style of football and that will not be easy for Epac. This is a game we cannot afford to lose,” he said.

If Silver win against Evirom tomorrow, then KB’s dream of winning their first league title will be shattered.

Epac coach Abbas Makawa said they will frustrate the soldiers.

“The pressure is more on them than us because we do not have much to fight for while they are aiming at the league title.  We will play our game to frustrate them and make sure they should never forget this particular game,” said Makawa.

Tomorrow, the focus will be on defending champions Silver Strikers who host relegated Evirom.

A win for coach Stain Chirwa will take their tally to 50 points, which will put them on course to defend the title and also put pressure on leaders Mafco who are not playing this week.

Silver are buoyed by the thrashing of Mzuzu United last weekend and if they can translate that ruthlessness into tomorrow’s game, they will be one foot in the Super League glory.

“We will not be complacent against Evirom. They have nothing to lose and might just play to frustrate us. We are taking this game seriously and I have told the players to attack and attack,” said Chirwa.

The combination of Green Harawa, Chawanangwa Kaonga and Frank Banda has been the killing dose for many teams that have come in Silver’s path.

Since taking over from Franco Ndawa, Chirwa has made Silver Stadium a fortress and the Bankers are yet to lose a game at home.

“Since taking over the team, I have emphasised to the players the importance of not dropping points at home. So far, it has worked and we just have to maintain that in our last game. It is a must-win game,” said Chirwa whose side is gunning for a fourth consecutive title.
