Ecobank Malawi has roped in popular musician Driemo as the Ecobank Day Ambassador for 2023 which falls on October 21.

In a statement, the bank’s head of brand marketing and corporate communication Tidzi Chalamba said Driemo’s appointment aligns with the theme for this year’s Ecobank Day ‘Transforming Africa through education: Excel through digital skills’.

He said: “As the Ecobank Day ambassador, Driemo will play a pivotal role in inspiring and mobilising individuals and drive awareness of key messages aimed at promoting digital skills through various initiatives, including a digital literacy session that will take place on Ecobank Day on October 21.”

Chayamba said the day is the bank’s flagship corporate social investment initiative to highlight its commitment to education and digital skills as catalysts for transforming the country.

Driemo, 24, is quoted in the statement as having said: “I am excited about this partnership with Ecobank Malawi to champion a cause that will have a great impact on the youth.

“Education and digital skills are important in every career and talent.”

Last year, Ecobank Malawi partnered Mikozi Network and Malawi Council for the Handicapped for the Ecobank Day to drive financial inclusion and empowerment towards persons with disabilities.

Ecobank Malawi gave start-up business kits valued at K15 million to 70 businesspersons with disabilities.

Ecobank Malawi Limited is part of the Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, the parent company of the Ecobank Group, which serves about 29 million customers in 33 African countries.
