Said Kaombe: “The shortage of experts in these fields stands as a significant obstacle, contributing to the country’s struggles in research studies which hinders the country’s capacity to find effective solutions to the myriad challenges we are facing.

“We urge professionals from the health sector and researchers to forge meaningful interactions aimed at harnessing the potential of statistical research.”

On his part, Ministry of Education director of science, technology and innovation Chomora Mikeka emphasised the importance of enhancing the nation’s human resource capacity.

He said: “Our ministry is focusing on education, skills development, research, science, technology, innovation, as well as health and nutrition.

“These serve as multiplier factors, collectively contributing towards the advancement of our nation in the realms of statistics, data science and big data”

Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Collins Mitambo highlighted that the symposium will play a critical role in assisting the ministry to attain its objectives.
