FAM beach soccer grand finale today
The inaugural K2 million Football Association of Malawi, (FAM) Beach Soccer Bonanza final starts today as eight teams compete for a K300 000 winner’s purse at Sunbird Livingstonia in Salima.
According to the organisers, Beach Soccer Malawi (BSM), taking part in the competition are two teams from each of the four beach soccer leagues in the country that did well in the Presidential Initiative on Sports
“This is the first tournament to be organised by FAM and there is a lot of excitement from the teams. We expect great competition,” said BSM publicist Vincent Chirambo.
He said the tournament will be used to select players for the national team which is expected to travel to Mozambique for a friendly tournament.
“We urge families to patronise the finals. There will be an open disco throughout the day to keep the fans entertained. There will also be a braii and refreshments,” said Chirambo.
