Fredokiss to host public lecture

 Musician-cum-politician Fredokiss has organised a public lecture which will act as a platform to examine the contribution of the youth in the development, political and leadership narrative in the country.

The public lecture, which will take place under his League For Change movement, will also facilitate a discussion to enlighten the youth on what they can do to help steer the country forward.

In an interview, the rapper said the platform will reflect on the role that the current generation of youths can play and the country they expect tomorrow.

He said: “It is a discussion on our task as youths and what lies ahead. What is expected of us? What do we want to see happen and what is our role? What is our vision and what have we learnt from the previous generation?”

The date and venue for the public lecture will be announced soon, according to Fredokiss, but the artist urged individuals willing to participate in the public lecture to come forward and participate physically or virtually.

 Those eligible to participate must be Malawian organisations or individuals living in Malawi or abroad, possess contextual knowledge or background of issues affecting Malawi and the youth in particular, among other things.

“We are targeting the youth, women, policymakers and aspiring leaders. Participants are welcome to contribute their papers through presentations on different topics such as the role of the youth in society and youths and economic opportunities,” he said.

Art commentator Wonderful Mkhutche said it is commendable to see artists such as Fredokiss taking their positions and creating spaces where the youth can make their voices heard in the political development of this country.

He said: “He has people who follow him. Even more, he is a youth too, and the youths are a determining factor in Malawi politics in terms of voting and general involvement.

“The platform he is creating now will be effective, taking into account that youths have been left in the peripheral of politics in Malawi. Now it is their time to take part and people such as Fredokiss are better-placed to gather those voices.”

The League for Change, founded by Fredokiss, is a platform for change agents and humanitarians that push for positive change within the communities with the youth as the core drivers of that change
