If I were Voice Mhone
Chairperson of the Council for Non-Governmental Organisations (Congoma), I would appreciate that while there is need for the civil society organisations (CSOs) to put pressure on government for it to step up investigations on the massive looting of public resources, the demands have to be realistic.
If I were Mhone, I would realise that it is a bit too early to consider seeking a vote of no confidence in President Joyce Banda’s administration and push for an interim government because we are just a couple of months away from next tripartite elections anyway.
I would therefore advise my colleagues to be patient and wait until all investigations have been completed in order to make determination as to whether government has indeed failed to handle the issue.
How I wish I were bwana Mhone and others, because I would also appreciate that the cash-gate is very complicated dating back to over five years ago and hence; the need to give government a bit of time to thoroughly investigate the matter and not be swayed by sheer emotions.
Yes, while the public is eagerly waiting for action in order to correct the situation, the harsh reality is that it will not be an overnight exercise.
That is if only I were bwana Mhone, unfortunately I am not him.
