United States of America (USA)-based Malawian entrepreneur Chauncy Mopho Jere was on September 28 named among the 2013 Black Business Achievers during an awards gala held in Nottingham, United Kingdom (UK).

Jere, who owns Robert Brown Consulting Group (RBCG) comprising a team of consultants focusing on serving the comprehensive needs of businesses in the full range of the business cycle, came second in the 2013 Black Business Achievers Awards out of a field of 600 initial nominees.

In his acceptance speech at the awards made available to Business News, Jere said he felt honoured that people were recognising his contributions to society through his two firms, RBCG (www.rbcg.co.uk) and IT Genie (www.itgeniegroup.com) which, he said, help the community.

RBCG has a core staff of experienced professionals and a team approach to most consulting projects with each consultant specialising in particular discipline, including finance, sales and marketing, information technology, energy, logistics, supply chain, warehouse, manufacturing, accounting, operations, event planning and human resources development.

However, Jere said he would have loved to be doing the work he does in the US and UK back in Malawi but could not do so due to rampant corruption.

He said: “I love working with people and I hope that my work touches and changes lives. Thank you. I accept this award with so much love and humility. What do you think? …I wish I could be doing this in my home country [Malawi] but unfortunately the environment is not conducive. Corruption has taken over from the top to bottom…”

To qualify for the awards, candidates are expected to be businesspersons running small or large companies in Nottingham and who the community see as acting as a positive role model to other black people.
