Mozambique team coming for friendlies next week
Newly promoted Mozambique army top league side Matchedje FC are expected in Lilongwe next week for strength building matches against Kamuzu Barracks, Red Lions and Mafco on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday respectively.
Mozambique Defence Force has arranged the visit with their Malawian counterparts, sports officer Warrant Officer Class One John Kaputa confirmed on Thursday.
He said the MDF had sought permission from managements of Civo and Silver stadiums to allow the teams to use the venues. The games involving the Lions and KB are earmarked for Civo whereas Mafco’s game will be at Silver.
“We wanted to include Lilongwe civilian teams, but according to Sulom fixtures, they all have games. If Sulom can reschedule the fixtures, then we can accommodate other clubs,” said Kaputa.
Matchedje, who recently signed Blantyre United’s Jimmy Chikulekule on loan, have just been promoted to the Mocambola League. They are expected to arrive on Monday.
