Football players agent Kondie Msungama has offered to organise a build-up match between the Flames and a select side in an attempt to help coach Tom Saintfiet cast his selection net wider.

Msungama, who has organised such games before, said he will arrange the match following Saintfiet’s concern about the performance of some players at the Cosafa Cup in Zambia.

“I have already sold the idea to FAM president Walter Nyamilandu and he is happy with it.

“What remains is for him [Nyamilandu] to consult Flames coach and FAM management on the issue,” said Msungama.

He said he has come up with the idea because the coach has little time to assess players ahead of the decisive September 6 Group F 2014 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.

He said he has already approached potential sponsors such as Rashy Transport, Zagaf and Kingstin.

Players that have so far been thrown into fray for consideration into the select side include Gerald Phiri Jnr, Gerald Nkungula, Louis Minjale, Dalitso Sailesi, John ‘CJ’ Banda, Francis Mulimbika and Bashir Maunde.

Msungama said coaches that are being considered for the select side are Blue Eagles’ Deklerk Msakakuona and Blantyre United’s Elijah Kananji.

In 2001, when the Flames were under Kim Splidsboel, Msungama arranged a similar game which led to players such as Jimmy Zakazaka and Fischer Kondowe being drafted into the Flames squad.

Two years later, Msungama arranged another match and Robert Ng’ambi and Rahim Ishmail were some of the products.

Nyamilandu confirmed speaking to Msungama on the issue and said the matter is under consideration.
