Nation dominates TNM Media Awards

Nation Publications Limited (NPL) on Friday dominated 2023 TNM Super League Media Awards, sweeping all print category accolades.

Sports editor Garry Chirwa won the Best Analyst Award while Senior News Analyst Joy Ndovi was named the Best Print Journalist.

Photojournalist Bobby Kabango bagged the best photographer award during the event held at Sunbird Mount Soche in Blantyre.

Chirwa said sweeping all the print category awards is evidence of NPL’s sports desk professionalism.

He said: “It demonstrates the efforts we put in as a team to give our readers more than just news.

“We strive to stick to our commitment to being a trustworthy and reliable media house driven by truthfulness, fairness and objectivity.

“We are driven by honesty, transparency, accountability, fairness and commitment to hard work.”

In other categories, Malawi Broadcasting Corporation’s Patrick Simango won in the Best Radio category while Hankey Chintengo of Mibawa Television won the Best Television journalist category. Anthony Isaiah of Wampira online scooped the Online award.

TNM Super League sponsor TNM plc and Super League of Malawi engaged a panel of judges led by Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (Mubas) head of journalism and media studies Dr Jolly Ntaba with other members Mubas broadcast journalism lecturer Francis Kapiri and international football jurist and analyst Peter Kanjere.

In his presentation on behalf of the panel, Kanjere said the awards attracted a record 137 entries, which was more than what the awards did in 2022 season. The winners received trophies and K300 000 each.
