Nchalo United technical adviser under fire

Disgruntled Nchalo United supporters have called for the removal of the team’s technical adviser Jones Napolo for suggesting that fans should no longer man gates during the team’s games at Kalulu Stadium.

The fans have since written the executive committee demanding the dismissal of the former Flames goalkeeper who they accuse of conniving with others to divert gate collections.

Both Napolo and general secretary for the Southern Region Football League (SRFL) Premier Division team Phillip Kumchera confirmed the news.

Napolo told Nation on Sunday during the week that he offended the supporters few weeks ago when he suggested that they should be replaced by members of the clergy at the gates to ensure the safety of gate collections during their home games.

“I thought my suggestion was for the good of the team, but to my surprise, the supporters opted to bay for my blood. However, I will accept whatever the team’s executive will decide,” Napolo said.

Kumchera acknowledged receipt of the fans’ letter. He said the executive will soon map the way forward on the issue.

“This is a serious allegation which needs to be handled with care. We will discuss in the next few days to see what we can do.

“We do not have a problem with Jones; he has been loyal to the team for a long time. On the other hand, we respect our fans who tirelessly cheer the team during matches,” Kumchera said.

Wrangles involving fans and football officials over gate collections are now becoming rampant in the country’s football arena.

Recently, police arrested a Big Bullets’ fan for allegedly disappearing with gate collections at Dedza Stadium.
