Nomads march on, goal-shy Bullets held

Be Forward Wanderers n Saturday bagged full points after whacking visitors Chitipa United 3-0 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre in a lively TNM Super League match.

Defender Francis Mlimbika, midfielders Felix Zulu and Misheck Botoman were on target as the Nomads continued their resurrection after the resumption of the league.

The Nomads are now ninth on the 16-team log table.

Wanderers coach Bob Mpinganjira praised his charges for the victory.

He said: “I must praise my players for working hard for this win.”

Chitipa United coach Christopher Nyambose said the Nomads deserved the victory after coming flat out.

“It is part of the game. We tried our best,” he said.

The newly-appointed coach said his charges are still adapting to his style of play.

“Change comes with different things and difficulties. They are still adapting to my philosophy.”

Meanwhile, the Nomads’ rivals Nyasa Big Bullets dropped points after being held to a goalless draw by Mafco at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

Coach Callisto Pasuwa said Bullets did not play according to plan as they failed to beat Mafco who had their player Morris Chiumia red-carded.

He said: “We were out of sorts in all departments.”

There was also another draw at Mpira Stadium in Chiwembe, Blantyre where Civil Service United (Civo) came from behind to force a 1-1 draw against Mighty Tigers.

Frank Chikufenji scored first for Tigers while Muhammad Sulumba equalised for Civo.

In Kasungu, TN Stars narrowly beat Karonga United 1-0 through a Chiletso Zoya goal.

In Mzuzu, Moyale Barracks were winners over Ekwendeni Hammers in a five-goal thriller.

Striker Gastin Simkonda, Brown Magaga and Lloyd Njaliwa scored for the Moyale while Ekwendeni goals came from Patrick Banda and Chawanangwa Gumbo.

Moyale coach Prichard Mwansa commended his charges for the victory.

“It was a tough game,” he said.

For Ekwendeni, it was yet another defeat after they also lost to Wanderers last week.

But coach Etson Kadenge Mwafulirwa blamed the loss on poor officiation.

Silver, who are on bye this week, still lead the table with 22 points from 10 games, but second-placed Civo can overtake them if they beat Ntopwa FC today.
