Zimbabwean tactician Callisto Pasuwa has committed his future to Nyasa Big Bullets by returning to work ahead of the 2022 season.

The People’s Team regrouped on Tuesday to start preparations for the new season under the tutelage of the former Zimbabwe Warriors and Dynamos FC coach as negotiations for a new deal appear to be heading towards conclusion.

Pasuwa has led Bullets to three successive titles

Bullets chief administration officer Albert Chigoga confirmed Pasuwa’s return from his native land Zimbabwe where he went for off-season holiday.

“I can confirm that the head coach returned ahead of training resumption and has since resumed work,” he said.

However, Chigoga could not be drawn to comment on the progress of his new deal.

His recent trip to Cameroon to watch the Africa Cup of Nations, which was sponsored by the club, offered the first hint that he would extend his romance with the People’s Team.

Pasuwa could not be reached for comment while his local representative Felix Ngamanya Sapao said he was yet to get in touch with him.

He led Bullets to a third successive TNM Super League title and guided the team to their maiden Airtel Top 8 title last season.

Bullets were the last top-flight league side to start preparations for the new season as other teams regrouped some weeks back.

Assistant coach Peter ‘Mjojo’ Mponda said the focus in the early days is on fitness.

“We are working on getting the players back to shape in terms of fitness,” he said.

Last week, Bullets released eight seasoned players ahead of the new season, namely defenders Sankhani Mkandawire and Pilirani Zonda, midfielders Chimango Kayira and Dalitso Sailesi and strikers Chiukepo Msowoya, Bright Munthali and Nelson Kangunje as they look to bring in fresh blood.
