Over the weekend, the Rotary Club of Limbe in Partnership with Khalsa Aid International distributed relief items to 1200 vulnerable families affected by Cyclone Ana and Gombe at Bvumbwe, Goliati and Lutcheza in Thyolo District.

The families received various items including maize flour, rice, sugar soya pieces, maize flour, cooking oil and salt.

Speaking in an interview after the handover ceremony, Rotary Club of Limbe president nominee Ulanda Mtamba said the relief program will support the less privileged families.

“Since March, we have been assisting several communities which were affected by the heavy rains with relief items in the districts of Mulanje, Phalombe and Chikwawa.

On his part, Khalsa Aid International country coordinator Mussa Kachala said the donation will ease the suffering of the affected households by the heavy rains.

“Next month we will embark on a project where we will distribute fertilizer and seeds to vulnerable communities.

One of the beneficiaries, Malita Eliya, thanked the Rotary Club of Limbe and Khalsa Aid for the donation which has come at the time it was needed most.
