School first, music later, declares Wakhumbachi
Winner of the 2012 E-Wallet contest Wakhumbachi Kalua has said she will not fully venture into music until she completes her studies.
The music starlet was reacting to inquisitions about her future in music a year after she promised to do more music upon winning the E-Wallet title. She said music and education both need serious concentration.
Since December last year, the up-and-coming musician has only recorded a single I Will Be There that was sponsored by E-Wallet as part of the prize package.
“I am currently focusing on my education. I have a passion for music and I am optimistic that I will do more in the career. However, right now I am concentrating on my education,” said the Blantyre-based musician.
The 18-year-old is pursuing a degree in Business Management at the University of Namibia and says she has written a number of songs but is keeping them for future production.
“I am impressed by one of the songs on paper now and I want to record it. This might be my 2014 production, but my fans should expect to see me busy in music after my education,” she said.
