Silver Strikers and Mafco clash yet again this afternoon at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota, this time in Carlsberg Cup round of 16.

The match comes after the two sides settled for a goalless draw a week ago at the same venue in a TNM Super League second round encounter.

In charge: Chimodzi during Monday training

But this time around, there will be no draw as one team must be eliminated from the cup.

The Bankers face the Salima-based Malawi Defence Force (MDF)outfit under technical director Young Chimodzi and assistant coach Peter Mgangira following the suspension of coach Lovemore Fazili and team manager Francis Songo.

Chimodzi said he anticipates a tough match, not different from the goalless draw in the Super League encounter.

He, however, said this time they will be aiming for a victory to qualify for the quarter-final.

Silver struggled to beat Lilongwe Veterans 4-3 to make it to the round of 16 while Mafco sailed through without kicking a ball after Thyolo-based Naming’omba failed to travel to Lilongwe for the fixture.

In another round of 16 fixtures, defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets host Changalume Barracks at Kamuzu Stadium on Friday while Be Forward Wanderers will face Dwangwa on a date to be announced later.

Blue Eagles, Cobbe Barracks, Hangover, Red Lions and Azam Tigers already made it to the quarter-finals.
