Veteran politician and former MCP director of research Dr Godfrey Nobi Kalowafumbi Khofi Phiri has died.
Khofi aged 83, died on Wednesday at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre.
He served as Malawian diplomat in the USA during the Kamuzu era before falling out of favour with the then MCP leadership. Khofi later joined the Democratic Progressive party (DPP).
His daughter Zengani Khofi confirmed today that the veteran politician will be buried on Saturday at his home village, Chiboko at Malasa, near the air field in Nkhotakota.
A funeral vigil for the late Khofi is taking place at his daughter’s home in Chinyonga Township in Blantyre. The remains will be taken to Nkhotakota today afternoon for burial.
