World Vision gives Chitipa Hospital medical supplies
World Vision Malawi has donated K30 million worth of medical supplies to Chitipa District Hospital to enhance the facility’s healthcare service delivery.
Speaking on Monday during the handover, World Vision area sponsorship officer Felix Bandawe said they wanted to address the challenges facing the hospital.

He said: “Recognising our role as a community-based organisation, we felt a deep responsibility to step in and provide this support.
“We believe that by directly improving the health and well-being of people within these communities, we are laying the foundation for broader, sustainable development across the entire country.”
Bandawe further encouraged the hospital to view World Vision as a dependable partner, emphasising their ongoing commitment to assisting local communities and inviting the hospital to actively engage in collaborative efforts to maximise the impact of their combined resources and expertise.
The hospital’s pharmacist Emanuel Mwekinda thanked World Vision for the support.
He emphasised that the donation came at a critical moment when the hospital was grappling with severe shortages of essential surgical items.
“Procuring surgical items is a financial burden. The shortage of surgical items has been a persistent challenge for our facility. This donation will alleviate this constraint, enabling our medical team to deliver effective and efficient care to our patients,” said Mwekinda.
The items included 19 cartons of protective laboratory coats for medical staff, five cartons of essential intravenous drips for administering fluids and medications, 20 cartons of sterile sponges for wound care and 50 clinical thermometers for patient temperature monitoring and 28 cartons of gloves.
