Queens, SA qualify for semi-finals
Malawi Queens and their hottest rivals South Africa have made it to the semi-finals of the African Netball Associations (ANA) Championships taking place at Blantyre Youth Centre.
They each have a game in hand after their respective triumphs over Zambia and Swaziland respectively yesterday.
The Queens relied on a last-quarter surge to outsmart the resilient Zambian 55-43 to top pool A with two wins while South Africa earned a 73-28 walkover against Swaziland to lead pool B.
The two sides will today face Botswana and Uganda respectively.
This means the two giants will avoid each other in the semi-finals berth if they win their games today as each will lead their group. Pool A winners will take on pool B runners-up in the semi-finals tomorrow (Friday) whereas pool B leaders will meet poolA second-best team.
