Aaron breaks local transfer record
FCB Nyasa Bullets new-signing midfielder Lloyd ‘Banega’ Aaron has broken the domestic transfer fee record set by Mighty Mukuru Wanderers winger Gaddie Chirwa.
The People’s Team signed the Flames midfield workhorse from Civil Service United at K10 million almost a fortnight ago, which was K2.5 million more than what the Nomads paid Blue Eagles for Chirwa last year.
Ironically, another Bullets new-signing, goalkeeper Innocent Nyasulu from Mighty Tigers is now second on the local transfer fee records, having been bought at K8.5 million, pushing Chirwa to third.
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) club licensing and compliance manager Casper Jangale confirmed in an interview yesterday that Aaron now tops the transfer fee record.
He said: “Of course, officially the recent transfers have not been processed, but Lloyd Aaron now tops the list as per the agreed transfer fee followed by Nyasulu.
“According to our official records, he [Aaron] is the first player to be sold at K10 million.”
Meanwhile, Jangale has said the transfer window could be officially opened after the meeting which FAM competitions committee has today to plan for the next season.
Despite the transfer window not being officially open, some teams have already started beefing up their squads.
Silver Strikers have taken on board defender McDonald Lameck and striker Christopher Gototo from Blue Eagles.
And apart from Aaron and Nyasulu, Bullets who swept all silverware in the just-ended season, have also re-signed gangly Nigerian forward Babatunde Adepoju on loan from South African second-tier league side Venda Academy FC.
On the other hand, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have taken on board midfielder Blessings Singini from Ekwendeni Hammers.
