Blantyre to host Fifa play station tourney

For the first time in Malawi, Blantyre will host International Fifa Play Station games where participants will showcase skills, tricks and game techniques with joy sticks.

The game is played using PlayStation 3.

In preparation for the international event, Freemantle Management have organised a tournament in the commercial city of Blantyre to be hosted at Game Stores on June 8.

According to Freemantle Management director Samuel Chiwaka, each player is required to pay K2 000 (about $5) to participate.

“The games will start at 9.30am. All participants will gather in Game Stores Mall to undergo three phases of dual challenges. In phase one, each game lasts four minutes. However, a game ends if a player scores five straight. Each player chooses his team and has the chance to change it later,” said Chiwaka.

The games have been sponsored by rap star Tay Grin in partnership with Freemantle Management, according to Chiwaka.

The international competition, to be held on June 28 is dubbed “Rise Above the Rest Match,” and Team Britain will take on the best of Malawi .

The UK team comprises of Lakesh Pookraj and Efosa Akowe who will be arriving on June 27.

Participation to Freemantle Game On is open to all ages.
