If I were

If I were Peter Mutharika

President of the Republic of Malawi, I would realise that it is difficult for opposition political parties and civil society organisations (CSOs) to take my offer of an olive branch seriously considering my inconsistencies.

If I were my President that is APM, I would appreciate that this is not the first time I am making such an offer, but oftentimes I have ended up provoking my political opponents and CSOs with hate speeches, especially my henchmen.

I would also realise that the issue is not only about attracting investors, but rather ending the political instability which is affecting the country in many ways.

Under such circumstances Your Excellency, I would reflect on my conduct and consider taking a serious approach.

Oh yes Adadi, I would accept the harsh reality that I have ever preached unity before but hardly walked the talk.

As the President, I would realise that I have a duty to unify Malawians because it is no secret that they are divided because of political affiliations and the way I conduct myself has the potential either to worsen and improve the situation.

I would, therefore, foster unity across the political divide. That is if I were Adadi, unfortunately it is a mere wish for I am not him.
