John Tembo 13 Feb, 2013
President of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and Leader of Opposition in Parliament, I would realise that my critics have a point to claim that the Joyce Banda administration has silenced me considering my conduct.
If I were JZU, I would realise that my critics are justified to raise eyebrows when I fail to speak out on critical issues such as the acute shortage of drugs in the country’s hospitals.
Surely, if I were baba Tembo, I would realise that my critics have a point when they question my silence as Leader of Opposition for my failure to speak out on several issues that the government is not doing well.
I would also realise that they have a point to suspect that perhaps ‘a boma andiyika sikono mkamwa’ to the effect that I cannot speak against its shortfalls.
I would further appreciate that dismissing suggestions that I have been silenced by government is not enough, but I need to prove my critics wrong through my conduct as a constructive Leader of Opposition.
That is, if I were JZU. Unfortunately, I am not baba Tembo.
